In finite terms, these early defensive structures in Europe were a result of foreign invaders traveling into new lands and wishing to keep their conquered possessions secure by having safe bases of operation where soldiers could quickly respond to uprisings and enemy campaigns. Even some famous medieval cities originally grew up within Roman walls. While Western Rome was declining during the Migration Period of the Early Middle Ages, many of the forts and stone walls the Romans had built in Europe remained intact, and most of them were repurposed by Celtic and Germanic peoples. Such structures included walled barracks for the armies to sleep in and watchtowers known as burgus for defending roads and bridges, precursors to the Scottish pele which encompassed the border ‘twixt Scotland and England during the time of Robert the Bruce. In Late Antiquity, the Romans were masters of building defensive structures within several days while on campaign in Gaul and the British Isles. This is because the defensive capabilities of the castle were its main reason for existing, and the castle needed to keep up with siege-craft technology which was evolving just as rapidly throughout the medieval period. If you've got an older computer that has a hard time with 64x, I highly recommend Dokucraft - it comes in lots of flavors and it's gorgeous even at 16x and 32x.Castles throughout the Middle Ages went through immense evolution, especially their defensive structures. (for the finished photos) Both are 64x and AWESOME. #Medieval house design full#
full basement including furnaces, lots of chest storage, craft table and anvil space, and access to a mining shaft.I really suggest doing this one in creative - it took only two hours that way! :D I've got another version of this medieval house on the survival world the boy and I have been playing - it took maybe a day to build in survival. NOW IT'S ALL IN ONE PLACE AND SEXY AS ALL GET OUT. Years ago when I first started playing, I'd either use a town as a base or build multiple structures to house everything but this house solves all those problems. This medieval Minecraft house is based off a house I found online a few months ago (and now can't find again to link nooooo) - I fell in love instantly! Once I started building it I realized it was also the perfect size for everything I needed.

I normally play the Feed The Beast version with the boy, but we went back to vanilla Minecraft recently to try it out since it has loads of new updates! One of my first vanilla projects was to make a pretty medieval style house - I've always wanted one. Something you may not know about me: I am a Minecraft addict.
